In 1941, Babcock Wilcox company of the United States used natural kaolin to be sprayed into ceramic fibers after melting in electric arc furnace. In the late 1940s, two companies in the United States produced aluminum silicate series fibers and used them in aviation industry. In the 1950s, ceramic fibers have been officially put into industrial production. In the 1960s, a variety of ceramic fiber products have been developed and used for the wall lining of industrial kilns. After the global energy crisis in 1973, ceramic fibers developed rapidly. Among them, aluminum silicate fibers developed the fastest, growing at a rate of 10%~15% per year. The United States and Canada are major producers of ceramic fibers, with an annual output of about 100000 tons, accounting for about 1/3 of the world's total annual output of refractory fibers. The output of ceramic fiber in Europe ranks third, with an annual output of about 60000t. Among the ceramic fibers with an annual output of 30wt, the proportion of various products is roughly: blanket and fiber module 45%; Vacuum forming plate, felt and special-shaped products 25%; Bulk fiber cotton 15%, cloth and other textiles 6%; Fiber amorphous material 6%; Fiber paper 3%.
